Hello everyone! This is my first (of many I hope) blog posts. I want this blog to be a hungry man's guide to Houston restaurants that you may or may not have thought to try. I will post about any restaurant that I happen to love and want to talk about or a place I have never tried.
This first place is just called Taqueria. It's located at the corner of Spring-Cypress and Stuebner-Airline in Spring. It is next to a Valero gas station and is a brown building built next to a food truck with a sign that just says Taqueria open 7am-7pm. But don't let that fool you! This place has great homemade tacos. The tortillas are cooked right when you order your food so they're nice and fresh and hot.
Today, I went for breakfast. I have had their lunch tacos before and they are really good but let's talk about the breakfast ones. The menu is all in Spanish, which I don't know, but I do know what most Mexican foods are in spanish to get by in ordering. I got 3 tacos, a chirizo and egg; a bacon, egg and potato; and an egg and potato taco. The tacos were really good. The tortillas were super hot and I could barely hold on to them. I'm not a big fan of chirizo because it can be really greasy but here it wasn't bad. They have a green and red salsa. Both are really hot and spicy; the red had a really powerful chili spice flavor by itself but worked well on the tacos.
They also had several other meats you could get for breakfast tacos but I had never seen those words before in Spanish so I don't know what else they had. For lunch they have Carnitas (which i love), Barbacoa (which is amazing), Tripe (I believe they fry it for the tacos and they serve Menudo), beef fajita, chicken fajita and a few other staples.
If you find yourself in the Spring area of Houston and want a delicious, quick breakfast or lunch I would recommend stopping in. But if you don't live around there, I wouldn't say drive out of your way for it. But if it's only 5-10 miles away, try it!
